CDS Honours Roster

May 2010

CDS Honoured By John Gray High School

On the evening of Friday 7th May 2010, Charlene Jarrett, Drama Teacher for years 12 and 13 at JGHS presented CDS Chairman Penny Phillips and Youth Services committee chair Paul de Freitas with a plaque in commemoration of assistance given by CDS to JGHS students in 2009 which resulted in exceptionally high examination marks.

JGHS students learned stagecraft by providing the crew for both Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and for Annie.

Both of these shows were very complex requiring movement of a large number of items during scene changes.

During Annie, all changes were carried out in front of the audience since the curtain was never closed.

In addition, CDS members made themselves available for interview by JGHS classes so that students could gather information about the jobs and skill sets needed.

After the presentation, the CDS personnel headed for the Prospect Playhouse where students from Cayman Prep and High School were performing and filming their examinations - an extract from Shakespeare's 12th Night and a self-written and produced piece Behind the Band.
