Production documents

CDS Producer's Manual (PDF)

This manual is designed for members who will act as the Producer of an event. It contains a comprehensive description of procedures for the management of an event, communication with theatre management, and security of our guests. Its contents must be familiar to the Producer of a CDS event.

Production Budget Submittal Worksheet (Excel)

This document must be submitted to the Executive Committee by the Producer of a CDS event. It is designed to enable the committee to make an informed decision as to whether an event, whether forecast to make a profit or a loss, is a viable production for the Society under its rules and aims.
Prospect Playhouse Reservation Sheet (PDF)

This document allows the Producer of an event to make a tentative booking for theatre spaces and services. Bookings are not permanent until (a) pricing is agreed, (b) confirmation of pricing by placement of a deposit is made by non-CDS events, and (c) the reservation has been accepted by the Theatre Manager on behalf of the Society. The form may either be saved and completed from your desktop and then printed and/or e-mailed, or you may e-mail the form directly from the web page. In either case, the completed form must be sent to the Theatre Manager - theatremanager@cds.ky.

Skills Register (PDF)

This document allows a CDS member to record his or her performance and technical skills so that producers and directors of CDS productions can make an approach in the event that they need those skills. To have your details removed, please e-mail membership@cds.ky.

"Theatrical Logic"

In is down, down is front,
out is up, up is back,
off is out, on is in,
and of course -
right is left, and left is right.

A drop shouldn't and a
block and fall does neither.
A prop doesn't and
a cove has no water.

Tripping is O.K.
A running crew rarely gets anywhere.
A purchase line will buy you nothing.
A trap will not catch anything.
A gridiron has nothing to do with football.

A Strike is work
(in fact a lot of work).
And a green room, thank God, usually isn't.
Now that you are fully versed in theatrical terms,
Break a leg...
but not really!

Culture is the sum of all the forms of art, of love, and of thought, which, in the course of centuries,
have enabled man to be less enslaved
.

Andre Malraux - French Historian, Novelist and Statesman, 1901-1976)
