Paul de Freitas

Paul de Freitas is more often than not unseen backstage nowadays, either acting as Stage Manager, in which role he recently managed the successful run of "Peter Pan - The Musical" which opened the renovated Prospect Playhouse and introduced "flying" to Cayman audiences, or in one of the many other roles behind the scenes. However he has a long history of both acting and direction. Most recently, he played a number of cameos in the 2006 production of "Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell", substituting at very short notice (2 days) for another actor who became the victim of unusual circumstances. Paul has played Sir Thomas More in "A Man for all Seasons", Captain Von Trapp in "The Sound of Music", Freddie in "My Fair Lady" and The Pirate Prince in "The Pirate Princess" and so the stage holds no fears for him. He directed and or produced many Kiwanis plays which were staged in conjunction with CDS including such plays as "Run for Your Wife", "Birthday Suite" and "Look No Hans" raising funds for children in need in the community; he directed "Red Carnations" for the CDS "Love Triangle" event; and he has designed, built or assisted in building many sets including "Fawlty Towers". Paul is on the Executive Committee and Theatre Management Committee, is Chair of the Public Relations and Media Sub-Committee and maintains the CDS website.
